When was the last time you were really so excited it made your eyes sparkle and shine? When were you positively radiant? When was the last time you were so over the moon you could not contain it? When your excitement was contagious? When was the last time you felt like a child on Christmas Eve – believing in magic and knowing Santa would soon be visiting your home? When was the last time you felt as a child does – under that Magical Tree Christmas Morning?

Today I had lunch with Greg, a long time friend I used to ride dirt bikes with (as a teenager) in our little gang. Our conversation sparked this post. We talked about the freedom we had as children and how that taught us common sense and being responsible for our own life and well being. There was no one there to rescue you or pick up after you. If you got stuck in the mud solo – you stayed there until you freed yourself. We became strong independent adults that could think for ourselves, reason and choose wisely. Growing up on a farm proved to be a solid foundation for all that was to come.

A few years back I was looking for a camper van. I had chosen a Getaway Van. It took me 2 years to find the perfect match. It was advertised in the local newspaper. I drove over to see it and knew immediately it was to be mine. Ah, love at first site! It took me another 2 years to restore and make it ready for a long trip. When I had confirmation that I would be taking it to Mexico for the winter to live on the beach – well I felt like a little boy hitting his first home – run, and meeting Santa Claus in person as he scooted out of the fireplace! I was bursting with excitement and Oh how my eyes did sparkle and shine. I think my cheeks got sore from the huge grin I now wore.

It carried me faithfully on my trip and a great many adventures. I used it for work and play and finally, I lived in it full time for a year. It was a fine investment in myself.
The second time – Fire Walking. I saw the event in dream time and followed through a few weeks later. There were 20 of us there and 19 of us made the journey over the 1200 degree Fahrenheit coals. We built the fire, stoked it and raked the coals flat to walk over them. The photo was taken just as I took my first step over the burning coals. A bit tentative but unstoppable! Success there was the equivalent to telling anyone and everyone that said no, not or can’t – they were full of krapp! Ha! Take that. We did it!

The third time I created this feeling was watching a travel show on The Orkney Islands. I had been planning a year long trip around North America. Easy enough. During the show I had a revelation – I would have my bike and trailer there on The Orkney Islands. Within seconds I knew I could not do that in 1 year. Voila!!! The 5 year world-wide trip was born! The kid hit it out of the park once again.
The map shows a fragment of year 3 travel plans.

The fourth time was great – but at that time I did not realize how important this moment would be in helping me shape my vision. That was when I found My Baby Dragon. This is the gem that will now carry me around the world (not in 80 days). The photo I took was January First through the showroom window. A more in depth story of my find is on it’s way. All this in my life brings me to realize – spirit is not separate from our body and mind. We are inseparable. We are one. VB
